you fold one of the upper corners down to the opposite edge. then fold the other upper corner down to the other edge. this makes a shape like a house. Now you can use from the tip top of the roof down to the gutter as a 6 inch ruler. Another way to say it is there would be 5 sides. 6",6", 8.5", 2.25", 2.25"
Thank you thank you....yes it is true.

Fold down one corner. The bottom portion will now be 8.5 lengthwise and 2.5 wide (11 - 8.5).
Now on that bottom portion, fold a corner up. The new length on the rectangle you created is now 6 inches (8.5 - 2.5).

If you have a sheet of paper, they're normally 8.5 X 11 inches. So folding it symmetrically in the right way would give you this:
11/2 = 5.5
5.5/2 = 2.25
2.25/2 = 1.12
or
8.5/2 = 4.25
4.25/2 = 2.12
2.12/2 = 1.06
So, folding it in the shorter side pretty much gets you to an inch. It's not exact, but hey, you can try it folding it transversally, maybe that lenght can give you an even number.

fold over one corner to the other side... then rip off the bottom.. bottom should be 2 inches by 8.5.. from 2 inches it's easy.. rip off the bottom and measure your item by 3.
2 x 3 = 6.

I wouldn't waste my time screwing around with that. I would go and find a ruler.
