it makes you a smart woman. i am ashamed too - but not of my race entirely. just the lowlives.
i understand why you're ashamed. most of the negativity others see in colored people is there because we bring it on ourselves. babies having babies and not raising them up properly. little kids running wild in the streets, disrespecting their elders and thinking it's cool; picking up bad habits along the way like having sex early, drugs, and violence. they grow up to be hoodlums or w h o r e s, cause it's glorified on television and in music, and no one teaches the youth any better. it's like it's 'in' to be ignorant. it makes me sick.
this is what happens when discipline goes straight down the drain. so no wonder you are ashamed of your own race. chris rock said it best on one of his live shows - black people hate n i g g e r s too - not to be offensive. it just means that the 'n' word doesnt describe all colored people - just the truly ignorant ones that dont give a crap about anyone else but their own selves.

HEY WAIT A SECOND!! by your avatar, it seems we are the same race! nononono don't be ashamed. There are stupid people in every race whether we want to admit it or not. like some whites are ashamed of fellow extreme rednecks and blacks ashamed of fellow extreme ghetto peoples. All you can do is be the best you can be. lke i said, every race has stupid folks. I'm not ashamed, be proud of who u are

There are people in every race that do stupid stuff. There are people in every race that do great things. Try thinking of individuals rather than the whole group. Be "ashamed" of specific people or specific actions, and be proud of specific people or specific actions.
I would have to say that makes you normal.

Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is to accept who you are, including your race. I don't know why you are ashamed of it but feeling that way, you are subconsciously denying yourself, as race is one of the basic factors of personal identity. Hope you would get over it soon.

Unfortunately, it makes you a racist...Try a few sayings like "Love is colorblind"..."All human relations are mostly one on one"...even "I'M going to turn things around for my race"
Ultimately, it's ALL the Human Race. What's left?...the Golden Rule. You can be an ambassador for change. It will influence people...I'll bet I would love you!

You have no cause to be embarrassed of your race, only certain members of it.
My lineage is Scottish, which has it's positives and negatives. I can't hate the whole because a portion have some bad behaviour. Instead, I look to the best in my group and have pride in them.
Also, it's up to US to continue those positive traits for our children and their children...

Self Hating. It is not uncommon. Like when you hear some story of somebody who murdered a bunch of people, then you just pray that it wasn't someone of your race. Then you are practically happy when it's not. It's kinda sad, but, it happens.
