A friend of mine mentioned a specific case where a man got hit in the head with a baseball, and he remembered the specific weather conditions from everyday of his life...

They have records of weather... And I don't know about the validity of this SPECIFIC case, but I DO know that sudden memory recovery similar to this is possible... I would think it was usually after amnesia or concussions or whatever... Where something gets jarred in there and you remember things you never knew happened... or you never cared to remember...

I'm just looking for the term that refers to a large and sudden recovery of memories...

Every moment of our lives in stored in our minds. Like a computer, we access memories. Some are easier to access than others, for example, a single event compared to a series of similar events, like going to work every day or checking out the weather. Since we do it every day, it's difficult to remember a SPECIFIC day, but the memory is nonetheless stored in our minds.

So, the phenomenon you refer to is simply (and awkwardly) called "recovery of memory," just as you stated in your question. As someone mentioned, many autistics can do this. The brain compensates for loss of some of its functions, such as a trauma to the head, or physical disability by engaging or improving on powers not damaged. This is why some autistics can almost immediately tell you the day of the week in any given year. As Spiro Agnew once said, "The mind is a terrible thing to lose."

what you ask is normally called flash back.

but what happened to that dude is just a chance thing.
most autistics have similar abilities in his case it's just chance.
so the brain IS capable of such feats it's just not a regularly happening thing.
