I have a friend whose husband gets almost angry at her when she gets hurt, like burning her finger on the stove or hitting her head on a broken sign in a store. There isn't a shred of concern or even laughing at her being klutzy or being kind; he treats her with disdain.

What is this about? It doesn't so much hurt her feelings as she thinks it's odd. Where does this come from?

She doesn't have accidents often and they aren't bids for attention; they are just accidents.

Sounds as if he fears weakness in himself and so will not tolerate what looks like weakness in others, especially someone he veiws as an extention of himself.

Hint: Anger is a secondary emotion. It comes from the primary one, fear, which is the opposite of love.

maybe because he knows the focus will be on her rather than him. Its a selfish thing. Like partners who expect constant assistance and sympathy when they are ill, but dismiss their partners need for the same when ill. I would suggest its often a male thing (as they are often more practical than emotive -and her being injured would affect him on a practical level), but I know thats a stereotype and isn't always accurate.
