it will just be an awareness ribbon in honor of my little sister. she had cancer as a child and as a result has gone through more than most people can even imagine. she is one of my biggest heroes and because of that i want to honor her and her battle with an awareness ribbon. the problem is i dont know which color ribbon to get. lavender is for general cancer awareness and gold is for childhood cancer awareness. which of those two do you think would be best? again, im only asking for opinions. im not asking for you to decide for me so dont even start with the "its going to be on your body so you have to decide" bs. thanks.

i thought about using both colors BUT purple and yellow together are awareness for "chemical injury" and i wouldnt want people to confuse that with what my ribbon would actually mean

what about doing one of each but overlapping them? i think i prefer the gold, however im afraid that it may look yellow and that would defeat the purpose.

WILDTHING: im deeply sorry for your loss. seeing a loved one struggle with cancer is one of the hardest most painful things ever in my opinion. i also had two uncles who died of cancer. thankfully i didnt lose my sister. she is a cancer survivor which is why i want to get the tattoo in honor of her rather than in memory of her.

CHICKENBRAIN: i do already have one, as you will see in my avatar, but the fact that you cant donate blood if you have a tattoo is untrue. you just have to wait a year or so after getting the tattoo. they test the blood before they use it.

I think it's sweet your thinking of honoring you sister like that, Since she was child you could go with the gold, you can also mix both gold and lavender running into each other if she's grown now... I love tattoos and honoring someone is special. Good luck!
*edit*
Get lavender and highlite it in gold!

I would ask your tattoo artist if he could incorporate both colors. Maybe do it purple with gold highlighting or shading. Most tattoo artists are exactly that- artists. They really can take an idea and make it exactly what you want. Don't be afraid to ask!
EDIT: I just saw your edit. Instead of putting them both together to create one ribbon (to avoid confusion of the meaning) I would do one color or the other (personally, I would do gold because she got it as a child) and then have a shadow done in the other color (purple to recognize cancer as a whole.) Again, I urge you to take all of your thoughts to a tattoo artist and ask them what they would do. Ask them to draw it out for you. This is a very simple design and it should take them just a few minutes. If you go to a tattoo artist who is not willing to do this, find another one!

It is a tragedy for children to battle cancer and the thought of loosing a child is horrifying.
I would get a lavender colored ribbon because it is the color for general cancer with "MY SISTER, MY HERO" .You can get a temporary tattoo in a golden color, because you can't get a permanent tattoo in a nice golden (metalic) color, it would probably be more like a yellow-tan color.
I am sorry for your terrible loss.

I think you should get the lavender one, purely because it will show up better on skin colour, if that makes sense. And general cancer awareness is important too!

get the gold if you want to remember that your tattoo is specifically honor your younger sister. But get lavender otherwise.

Well if you don't already have a tattoo and have a rare blood type you may want to reconsider getting one period. If you have a tattoo you can't donate blood and bone marrow. This is due to hepatitis risk from tattoos.
To honor her plight it may be more meaningful if you can donate blood and bone marrow to help save another.
If you aren't sure of your blood type find out first. Otherwise go for the gold!
