There are many good students, however there are a lot of disrespectful, undisciplined punks. They are not well disciplined.
Principles, school boards, and parents are to blame, but they like to blame teachers. These children fear nothing.

As with anything else, it depends on the individual student, as well as the particular school. My son attended schools which had very little difficulty with discipline; others aren't so lucky.
With that being said, I can add one thing; I think US public schools do our children a HUGE disservice by not teaching subjects which explain our place in the world. They have almost zero education in geography of either our own country or the world at large. There is little study of current state, national, or world events. Students fail to learn standard English, to read a complex paragraph, or write a coherent sentence.
Just Google video of "dumb Americans"; even Harvard professors don't know where Saskatchewan is!
Our idiot president can't keep "Austria" and "Australia" separate in his own mind, nor "APEC" and "OPEC". Neither can he pronounce "nuclear" properly, and he went to YALE!! Sick.
