My Dad's name was Anthony but everyone called him Tony. I just found out that I am having a girl and I want to name her something that is after my Dad. I don't like Tonya or Antonia. I do like Antoinette but only as a middle name. I was thinking of something like Toni-Lynn. Any suggestions?

What about Tonielle...like Danielle with a "T"?

Antoinette was the first name that came to my mind. I think it would sound best with a one syllable first name, such as Grace Antoinette. Of course, Marie Antoinette comes to mind but that is a bit contrived sounding.

Athena could be a variant of Anthony that you use, and Toni could be a nickname. I think it is very cute.

Congratulations on your daughter, and I hope you find the perfect name to honor your father!

I do not really like Tonya either.

Without playing games, don’t be available 100% of the time or let your life be an open book. A man that comes on too strong or doesn’t have outside interests will scare a woman away just as much as it would if the circumstances were reversed. Read here https://tr.im/qR3m3

Women don’t want to feel as though they are completely responsible for your happiness and that is what it feels like when the other person has no outside interests. Men who are overeager or jump when the woman says jump are the ones who are more likely to end up in the friend zone. This doesn’t mean that you should play the game of not calling for a few days; it means that you should set healthy boundaries until you both naturally find a spot for the other in your lives.

I think Toni is adorable for a little girl! I've always loved when girls have 'boy' names or nicknames like Chris or Toni.

By the way, my dad's name is Anthony Allen (he goes by Toni, too) and I'm naming my second little boy Ayden Allen.

I like Toni-Lynn, though. I can't think of any other names besides Tonya - and I agree with you on that name... ugh...

I knew a girl named Toni Ann, but I don't like nicknames as full names. Maybe use Antonia but call her Toni? That way she's got something formal, but you don't have to actually use it on a daily basis.

Tanya, Antonina or Toni. A lot of people name their kids with 'partial names:' ( a friend of mine named her son Chet...not Chester, just Chet). Personally, I think Christina Antoinette sounds pretty, feminine and mellifluous.
