I've successfully set up a Windows XP VPN between my laptop and desktop computers. Now how do I transfer files back and forth over it?

You need to share the files or folders you want to transfer.

either share your whole c drive or just share the files you want to transfer.

to share a folder (has to be in a folder)

right click the folder
select properties
And then sharing
select share this folder
give it a name
click ok

Search for the connected computer from My Network Places, and transfer the files you shared.

Hope that helped

Note that if the computers are in the same location, you don't need a VPN. Just set up a Workgroup and then you can view/connect between the computers and drag and drop files between them - simple.

If the computers are not on the same physical network, then you can setup a VPN to connect them using the Internet. However, once you have done this, the computers will *appear* to be on the same physical network, and you can mount shared drives or directly open Windows Explorer windows for shared drives on the connected computer, and drag and drop files.

Search for the connected computer from My Network Places.

From there you can transfer files to the other computer.
