Okay, clearly from my screen name you can see I am not exactly a feminist....but I'm a bit concerned that the commish is over-regulating the game....the most recent outrage being his bar on cheerleaders from certain areas of the field because they are "distracting." With all of this talk in the NFL about being accessable and diversity--why is the commish going out of his way to take a shot at these girls? Is the issue that important?

For goodness sakes, we can't play the game professionally, can't we at least send the message that women are welcome (in whatever capacity they are involved in the game) rather than calling them "distracting?"

I know it's probably a stupid cause, so feel free to give the contra-opinion. I don't necessarily need the best answer to agree with me....

I think it's funny. Why would the cheerleaders really need to warm-up or stretch in front of the visiting team's locker room anyway? Is that supposed to be a clever strategy that someone cooked up to "distract" the visiting team pre-game. I don't think that it should be a *rule* but it's kind of a dumb thing for them to do regardless. These guys are supposed to be pros so they should be able to handle several attractive women warming-up near them without it throwing off their game.

Just imagine how the NFL will be in 10 or 20 years as all of the idiotic rules keep adding up. It really is the No Fun League.

The most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. The cheerleaders are just as much a part of the game, as a football is. Maybe the commish is afraid his pants will be bulging, and he can't explain it.

There are a few reasons and commonality with the teams that end up heading south; firstly, after a great season with relatively easy schedules, the next season is when the schedule gets tougher. Secondly, success heightens the value of key assistants/coordinators, and they often leave the team for better offers. Third, many teams will cash in their salary cap room for a season to make a run for championship glory, and end up screwing themselves out of having the better players for a few seasons. Fourth, other teams have had the chance to update their rosters and plays to specifically counter what the team has been relying upon. Fifth, teams that have met with success tend to lose their hunger, and think they'll win no matter what level of effort they bring. Inevitably, that backfires, and they find themselves on the outside looking in. Sixth, after going all out in one season, many of their players have worn out for a season or two, and so have lose a step or two.

Yeah this is just stupid, let the cheerleaders do their thing they work very hard to make their squad. Plus he's gonna have his hands full when the names of people who where involved in that huge steriod bust the DEA just had which includes NFL players supposedly. I don't get this rule.

They're only keeping them from warming up and stretching and stuff in front of the opposing team's benches...something that my girls (the Jills) don't do anyway. I think it's kinda funny...Goodell is getting kinda touchy with this one, I think...lol

ur completely right...

mr goodell has gone way far...starting with all players being suspended...then messing with the PATRIOTS for "cheating" when we all know that all teams have used technology to beat out the opponent...well, whatever... Hope you get my point...it is as if games will get better restricting chearleaders...the hell with goodell "bad" I would say.

LOL.....

This is rediculous. I like Goddell, but banning cheerleaders because they are "distracting" in certain areas is absurd.
