I know place go by looks.. Would you want to buy you clothes from someone that looks like a bum.

Sorry if i am about to upset someone. I refuse to buy things from stores that hire employees that wear their pant half off their butts or have a lot of tattoos and piercing that show. Most of the time i will look in the store and see how the employees dress and that is how i see if i want to go in to a store or not.

trust me we like neat clean appearances - but were not looking at your abs - if you were to pull your shirt up in an interview i wouldnt hire you - id be worried id get a sexual harrassment suit -

if you are truely interested in working at a clothing store -
here are my suggestions -

Dress nice when picking up, turning in , and interviewing for the postion ( we notice more than you think ) - keep your hair done whether you wear braids ( im assuming your black form you pro ) or keep it low - i wouldnt suggest an afro ( i dont have a problem with it but for this industry a lot of areas and companys dont want that ) - tuck your shirt in, wear a belt, make sure you know how to throw an outfit together - for a man and woman - dont over coordinate your colors if they test you - you need to look up merchandising - colorizing - and stylerizing - and learn the difference - and baby when it comes to fashion your size only matters because of what you wear - you need to be able to tell a big girl - this looks better on you and a big man talk him out of stripes that run left to right - with out being offensive - you need to look people in the eyes - you need to be able to talk people into buying things they willwear more than once and get compliments in it - you need to be able to convince your customer your manager and district manager you didnt let her buy that outfit because you dont want her to be unhappy with your service and suggestions and not come back - get over your looks - any one that is truely serious about working in a clothing store knows better -

It doesn't usually matter.
It depends on what clothing store you want to work at.
Most stores require you to wear their clothing as well.
If you have questions go to the manager of the store.
