Until playing that particular YouTube video, I've not *really heard* that Beatles song before and I'm still marveling at it's beauty. Enough so, that I am moved to offer an answer to your wonderfully challenging question. This is a question, I think, that is ~almost~ impossible to answer... But if I stop thinking and allow my heart to speak, perhaps I can uncover a glimmer of a diamond.

One of our greatest, perhaps singular, motivations in this life is to Love and live Love. Many of us are momentarily satisfied with all that glitters only to discover that our "hunger" persists and we know deep down that we are clinging to a pale imitation which does not adequately feed our soul, our Love.

Writers and artists and composers have attempted to convey Love for all time. Sometimes these words, sounds and images are made manifest through us, we as conduits for an unknown "divine power", an unseen hand which guides us mere mortals in ways we do not fully understand. It may be beyond my own powers to find ways in which to describe Love and so it makes answering your question even more challenging. Yet, if all of us - me included - are supple and receptive, the answers seem to come...

But you've not asked us to define Love; you have quite simply asked is Love wasted on humanity?

We are the vessels, the messengers of Love. Listening to The Beatles' interpretation shows us this. What I found most touching is the way in which a connection of music extending from pop lyrics to classical music can blend so harmoniously as to become a musical perfection of harmonic resonance. Music is only one way in which Love is spread.

Communication - visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory - is ours to express Love. Like a sage teacher, Love waits for it's pupils to find true understanding. And like any great teacher, the rewards are magnificent if only ONE in hundreds or even thousands truly hears & understands the message. We cannot dismiss the teacher by numbers alone, nor can we discredit the teacher for having reached only a few from many. Likewise, we cannot fault the student for missing the message - it is delivered as many times in as many ways just as it WILL. Teacher and student have a symbiotic connection, and joined in this exquisite exchange, both messenger and recipient grow from the seeds which are planted. How ever can this be considered as a "waste" of Love on Humanity?

I had initially intended to locate an appropriate video of chanting in Sanskrit - this is a language not merely of words and their meanings - but most importantly of sounds. It is said that the resonance of Sanskrit is above human language and when heard, it elevates everything and all within it's field of contact.

From the sublime to the seeming (but not) ridiculous, I'll post these lyrics instead (not the YouTube video, though it is there). For you see, no matter who the messenger is, the message is divinely beautiful. The words are simple and not to be confused with "romantic" Love. Having read and re-read them, I can only say that what we as a group (including here at Y!A) are co-creating in all of our connections is a Love which is one step closer to embodying our true desire in a melodious chorus of Love. It is by no accident that we here have grouped together, to ask, learn and share.

Here we are out here, me and you
Reaching out to each other
Is all that we can do
Here we stand trying not to fall
There's no need to worry
Love will conquer all
Do you really want to know
Just how long love will last
Will all of the bad times pass?
How can we make things right?
Ooh and why, why is the world so unkind?
We surely can find peace of mind
If we only see the light
Can't you see that?
Can somebody tell me why?
Why do our dreams go wrong?
Why can't we all belong?
Oh where did we start?
Oh and tell me when
When will we ever learn
There's nowhere else we can turn
The truth is in our hearts
Here we are together
Sometimes the road gets hard to travel
Sometimes the pains too much to bear
Sometimes when life seems to unravel
That's the time oh to say
We're gonna make it anyway
Can't you see that?
Here we are out here, me and you
Reaching out to each other
Is all that we can do
Here we stand trying not to fall
There's no need to worry
Love will conquer all.

I don't think so that love will just be wasted for humanity. Love has been consumated for the good of humanity and not to think it otherwise. The fact that it is love utilized for humanity will never be considered as a waste. To love is to give value for humanity. Humanity after all deserves the strong complex emotional feeling for one to appreciate and delight in to promote the welfare of the other.

Thanks to the interesting question. Have a wonderful day!

I'm not entirely sure. -_- I don't know if you're asking the right question here.

My concern is: Does this "LOVE" thing actually exist? Or is it just another four-letter word that the humanoids use to manipulate each other?

Really, it looks that way to me. That for the most part, the *word* is used as a tool because people have no regard for whether such a thing is real or not. Not to mention, the thing just doesn't seem to have any life or existence to it unless you're young, pretty and wealthy. People who are older, less attractive physically and poor folks seem to have to *settle for less*, for longer words that mean less, for more complicated feelings that are *less than* what's needed or desired.

So I don't know....maybe you're not asking the right question. Maybe the lot of us bleating *herd animal* wannabes are too *dumb* for it.

Sorry to put it that way, but you know...

Difficult question and there is a age difference but I will give it a whirl.
Humanity is a sub part of pity, and love is a whole like pity. So the answer is NO.

, my friend, you seem blue. I would buy you a drink, but there's the small problem of transmitting matter through cyberspace.

Have a tune, instead.

It's a reaction we create and a concept spread throughout, what's to waste?

Love is not wasted on humanity.

Without humanity love would not exist.

Wish I had been an adult in that time, as "innocent & naive" as it may seem. Where have all the flowers gone----???
Love can't be wasted--humans waste it.
