Okay, strange thing happened to me last night. Very embarrassed to even say this. I am 23 years old, female. I masturbated (which I really don't do often, not that it matters) but I was in bed and turned to go to sleep and looked at the clock and there was a distinct difference in the left and right side of my face. I could see perfectly from my left eye and it was blurry on my right. I actually got out of bed because I felt like something was very wrong. I would say after about 5 minutes I could see the same from both eyes and felt normal again. It wasn't just vision though, I felt weird. I can't really explain what I felt but it felt weird. This has never happened to me before and I just really concerned with what could have happened and what could have caused it and what can i do to make sure this never happens again (except the obvious, masturbating)
Thanks and please no rude comments, I am really concerned about this.

i am guessing that it did have something to do with blood flow. it may be a warning of something major approaching. have your doctor check your blood pressure A S A P!
i'm sure he'd be interested in your story. why are you waiting so long?

Not a stroke I would bet.
It has been noted that men have actually passed out during or shortly after orgasm. Personally, I have had blurred vision or seen stars after very intense orgasms. (I kind of like those types personally). I believe it has to do with increased blood pressure and sudden release. All answers here are concerned with increased blood pressure....of course your blood pressure was high..you were in an excited state. The tissue of your clit and vaginal lips engorge with blood during sexual stimulation, increased amounts of blood is flowing to the area. Increased blood pressure is a natural side effect of sexual stimulation, that is why your skin becomes flushed and you breath hard (other than the actual exercise, which in turn increases blood pressure as well)
If concerned, call the doctor and discuss it. Classic signs of stroke are numbness, blurred vision, slurred speech, headache, and other persistent symptoms, often seen on the left side of the body, but not always.
As far as never happening again, I would say to fake it or to never have an orgasm again.....both of which are not practical or fun.

You are kinda young to be having strokes...but it isnt imposible. Do you have any risk factors for stroke. Obesity, smoking, birth control pills, family history, coagulopathies (blood clotting issues), hypertension, family history of brain aneurysms, recent surgery.

Another thing that it could be is an "atypical migraine" (you don't have to have a headache). It can be a spasm of the optic artery causing visual disturbances. I had the burry vision but then progressed to being briefly blind. I never had another episode of it...(has been years). It happened after I ran from a parking lot and then up (8) flights of steps.

I am thinking your irregular breathing and maybe some breath-holding might have set off a mild version of what I experienced.

I was seen by an internist and an opthalmologist. that was their joint conclusion.

Just for the record (seriously) the threat of blindness wouldnt stop me from masturbating.

You would get more exertion routinely from other things ...so I wouldn't cross that off my list.

That is my best explaination/answer...hope it helps for determining the differential diagnosis and etiology of your signs and symptoms Good Luck!

This doesn't sound like a stroke. Many times I notice a huge difference in my vision, particularly when I'm in bed looking at TV or the clock. I think you had an anxiety attack and it's really nothing to be concerned about.

Your masturbating had nothing to do with this. You need to see your primary physician and explain what happened (you don't need to state what you were doing) and see if test can be run to make sure all is okay with you just to be on the safe side.

I have no clue what happened but it was not a stroke. If you are concerned then go see a doc and get checked out.

It would be VERY unusual for someone of your age to have a stroke unless you have high blood pressure.

maybe you just grimaced too much (out of ecstasy - no offense)? or you just had your face exposed to an electric fan or an airconditioning (car aircon for example) unit for a longer period of time, in a fixed manner...there's a medical term for that, i just forgot it...better still get yourself a medical test...one is a stress test where you'd be running on a tread mill w/ all the wires of an ecg attached to you to monitor your heartbeat...good luck on you health....but hey, if you want, you can email me for more chitchat? if you don't feel like it it's alright, i won't bother you anymore.
