J. Crew might not fit a tight budget, and look nice. The other suggestions were Banana Republic, Gap, department stores, etc.

1] buy a selection of jackets and pants in your best neutrals -
gray, navy, and black; or caramel, olive, and coffee brown.
Get shoes and belts in neutrals also - start with black or brown.
2] buy several dress shirts in your best brights or pastels.These are more flattering close to your face.
3] wear a good watch.
