How do you make an Ohio State Buckeye Necklace??

I have a buckeye tree in my backyard, and would love to use them to make an Ohio State Buckeye necklace. Surprisingly, I couldn't find anything on the web about doing this. Does anyone have any directions??

People are selling them, so it must be possible. You could try stringing them like regular beads, maybe with a coat of shellac, and see what happens.
