I mean, how many times are you going to see a particular movie? What a waste of money. Unless you really love a movie, there's no point in buying it. Some people buy every movie that comes out. You think they watch all those movies over and over? I think not. It must be some kind of psychological need to hoard.

I buy movies because

1) I do rewatch over and over even with 1200 movies (tv and news are a waste)
2) The nearest rental is an hour away
3) It's cheaper, I buy most of my movies for @ $5 and renting is four so if I want to rent something twice I have already spent more.
4) I loan them out and noone else has to rent either.

I think it is stupid to rent something over and over again paying more in the long run than waiting till they go on sale and buy them, unless you are in desperate need for space.

Yes, I buy 30% of mine used but clean them and they work fine.

I only purchase movies I know that I will watch over and over again. There are just some movies which are worth watching more than twice. Case in point, superbad. That will be the next DVD I own.

- I tend to watch movies that I bought/like more than once
- rented discs are suck, scratches, fingerprints that sometimes won't play in my player and that is frustrating
- being able to watch whatever I want at any time I want instead of waiting on queue

Why don't you allow e-mails? I wanna talk to you!

And I buy movies just to pop them in any time that I want to see them, and want to be entertained.

In the long run it is cheaper as average rental is $4.00, and you can own it, lend it to friends and rewatch it and if you really dont like it resell it on ebay ;-)

I think you have it right, its the "I have to have more than you"attitude, Hoarders are everywhere! We rent from netflix and if we wantto see a movie we can have it next day, it makes more sense to us! : )
