Not really. The monarchy still has the power to dissolve Parliament (government) and it is the monarchy that gives final approval of who is to be Prime Minister. When Neville Chamberlain found himself to be in a bad position ("Peace in our time..."), it was the King who asked his recommendation for a replacement. His one word response was simply "Churchill." The people vote, but it is the throne that gives final approval.
