My 13 year old daughter is a very sociable girl. She is confident in herself and not easily intimidated by new situations or new people/friendships. I sometimes admire that in her, but I also see that she has a difficult time KEEPING friends. People are initially drawn to her and want to get to know her, but it seems that those people never stick around to form a good solid friendship with her. Shes been broken hearted on several occasions because she hasn't been invited to functions that she really wants to participate in with people that SHE looks at as friends. I don't really know what to tell her. Part of me wants her to just stay the energetic, confident person that she has always been, because thats who she truly is, but part of me wonders if her classmates think shes just too hyper, overwhelming and too confident in herself and maybe find that annoying. Most adults who know her have told us that she "facinates" them with her personality and they really like her. Why dont kids?

I`m 28 and I was a bit like this. Sometimes certain people get along better with specific age groups than others. I didn`t know how to really talk with adults and like Alice in Wonderland author Lewis Carroll who got along mostly with children. She`ll find some friends who will stick with her and grow into her personality :)

I had a somewhat similar problem at that age.
The problem may be that she is too confident but also she may just be simply out of their league.
What I mean is children develop at different rates and it may well be that she is on a more mature level than most children her age. It will come right when all children are developing towards her level of maturity.
It is hard being left out I know but the good side of it is that you learn at a young age a lot about people.
