If a man is on drugs and is not married yet, why in the world would he want to be with a spouse that is highly and vocally dead set against it? Don’t those kind of people want to be with there own?

He's going to pick somebody who he thinks he can control. Someone who he thinks will take care of him and enable him to use.

Don't throw your life away on an addict. I"m a recovering alcoholic married to a normal woman. It tears my heart out to think about what I put her through. I"m spending the rest of my life trying to make amends and love her like I never knew how.

But don't let that sappy stuff make you think he's going to end up like me. The vast majority of alkys and addicts never get clean. The divorce rate is astronomically high among the ones that do. I'm especially blessed because I got sober fairly young.

Addiction ruins familys. They call it a family disease. Most of their kids end up addicts. It's horribly tragic.

PLEASE don't marry a drug user. If you feel compelled to do so I recommend you explore what it is in your life that attracts you to "our kind". If you have the attraction then you are more at risk than even my wife was.

Don't even date him. It's too risky. I'm like him and I'm telling you don't date and don't marry someone with my disease!!!!

I know plenty of folks where one partner/spouse likes to party and the other does not. Understand that alcohol is a drug so there are plenty of couples like this and there are those who stick strictly with their own kind-Just look at bars...
Whatever works between two people is great-there is not right answer on this-thanks

NO. I know of a girl who married a man on drugs. They had kids. Once they had kids she turned around and said it's either the family or the drugs. He chose the family and hasnt turned back since.

Did anyone besides me actually read the question? Quite simply......opposites attract. His being on drugs doesn't effect his ability to fall in love; you don't choose who you fall in love with. Him continuing to do drugs at this point might very well keep the relationship from going any further, if it doesn't put an end to it altogether.

No he wants his old lady to enable him, by being clean so she can bring in the money for him to buy his drugs, eat and keep a roof over his head. If he gets with another drug addict they will both be out on the street having to beg and steal for their drug money.

Not necessarily,it sounds like he wants help to stop or other than that someone to support his drug habit

When I met my husband I was on drugs, after he threatened to leave me I quit...I loved him more then I loved drugs.
Ultimatums work wonders sometimes.

maybe then he would have a reason to quit, and someone to stand with and behind him and to help him when he falls weak, but to be honest, love is blind to alot of things, including alcohol and drugs, when people really love someone, they could careless about their faults, and shortcomings
