I don't get this slogan now. This slogan has become popular again since the war with iraq. So if fredoms not free why are paying for it when our freedom are not at stake in iraq. I dont understand how Bush jumps from catching bin laden to making a country democratic. I knew that when Bush won in 2001 it would led the nation in to trouble. Between al gore and bush, i was going for al gore. Al gore talks about global warming a lot but i think he would have made more world freiendly changes rather than attacking a country. Who should we vote next? I hope for obama. Who is with me.

There is a price to be paid for freedom.
Democracy requires vigilance against powers which corrupt.
Bin Ladin & the Taliban were driven out of Afghanistan.
And are being held down in Pakistan border country.
Iraq was another failed state waiting to become a refuge.
Removing Saddam was a debt the Americans owed them.
Al Gore would be a total wimp in such a situation.

Freedom is not free, because of the lives that are lost trying to keep our freedom...case in point, this war, the wars before it..what is free?..their lives sure weren't...but, to try and preserve our way of life...my families (I have a long military history in my family)...have died keeping our way of life alive..so, if you don't understand the definition of Freedom isn't Free?..I hope you do now...my twin is in this war, my father fought along side his father and 4 uncles and 3 brothers in WWII, and my father was also in the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam Conflict..can't call those wars, as war was not declared...they were called police actions...

You sure do need to learn some things.

"Freedom is not free" means just that because first of all our own freedom was won only by people being willing to fight and die for it....first to get freedom from the rule of the British forces....and to become an Independent nation. Without being willing to fight....we would never have had our freedom "to" worship...not "from" worship, as the revisionists want you to believe.

Then we have fought two world wars to stay free....Hitler planned to take over the world...or were you unaware of that.
Our grandfathers fought and died to keep you free from Hitler's rule....and from Japan taking over as well. And Hiroshima was to save our own soldiers who would have died....many more of them...if we hadn't ended it.

And when the trade center was hit by the planes purposely the plan was to kill as many people as possible and "they thought to cripple our country economically because the terrorists didn't understand that wouldn't happen....and it was a miracle the number was 3,000 something and not 50,000 which it would have been if they had timed it right. And I believe that was God's protection over a number of people who didn't die that day.

And you have to consider Bush's position. They had planned to get all our major buildings...and our government. He had to act....and he did. Now everyone wants to criticize his actions, but he had a lot of advice being given to him, a lot of fear they would hit us again, and he knew from all the past Presidents, etc. that Sadaam Hussein had bragged he would get us...we had to get him first. And don't believe there were no chemical weapons...everyone had seen them being used....they are pretty sure they were moved...probably to Syria....and one of these days they will "show up"......

Bush first wanted to get Ben Laden....he moved to Pakistan....and yes they could get him, but totally overturn a leader who has been on our side in the process. In the meantime, Bush gets a lot of advice from those idealists who think every country can be made democratic...and that "everyone deserves to be free"...which in theory may be true, but freedom isn't free means everyone has to fight and die for it....we can't do it for them. It was idealistic...and well meaning....but impossible for us to "do" for another country.
We freed them from Hussein....but they do need to do the rest. We all agree we need to leave...but at the best possible time...not cause more problems by leaving.

And Al Gore? You have got to be kidding and have obviously never paid any attention to the things he has said and done.
He claimed to invent the Internet! He has over and over said one thing....then changed it to something else which is why he lost the election...he was a total joke...and still is. And tell me....what will Obama do if he is elected....he is an "image" and nothing else.

Personally I'll take a President who isn't a wimp, can't be changed by those who live by the polls, knows what he believes, listens to the best advice he can...and won't bend when he is pressured to do so. That's the kind of President I want in office....a leader, and not a blow by the polls wimp!

I will vote for either Fred Thompson who knows what he believes about our constitution....or Newt Gingrich who wants to change things....and has shown he can! He wants a total overhaul of how everything is operating.....and we all need that! The rest of them only want to be in power and don't care what happens after that!

It is to convince everyone that they should feel OK about losing all their civil liberties and being forced to live under virtual military rule because Bush wants to create a state of fear and hatred.

It also helps the US people feel better about being subjected to the worst medical and welfare systems in the developed world while the government spends billions propping up multi-billion dollar arms manufacturers to fight unjust, uneccessary wars.
