a billow is a "Great surge or wave of water" or "a rolling mass (flame or smoke) that resembles a high wave". i'm not really sure if it could be used for a name, but if it is, i'd see it to be more of a girl's name, like Willow. How about just Bill or Billy? Maybe you could name him Bill Owen,or something and call him Billow for short...

Billow? As in the actual word that literally means "a rolling mass that resembles a high wave?!" Certainly NOT. And how unfortunate should he end up having any weight issues. You can't just take any random word, especially when ignorant of its meaning, and call it a name.

Perhaps Willow -- for a girl -- would appeal? At least it's a nature reference, minus any negative connotations, commonly used as a name.

Oh, for a baby boy......
not to be mean, but I laughed at seeing that name...
Billow sounds like a name for a cloud, if it were possible to have a cloud as a pet.

No, I don't think it's a good name. He will spend the rest of his life explaining to people that it's "Billow" not "Pillow" or "Willow"

Keep in mind that your child is going to have to live with your choice for the rest of his life. Pick something meaningful, that is easy to spell/pronounce. I have a complicated last name, thank God my parents gave me something short and simple as a first name- it's bad enough to have to explain my last name over and over again!

Why must people find the stupidest names they can come up with? Your son will just wind up being Bill or Billy. Billow is horrible and so are you.

The word 'billow' is used when you're describing something flapping in the wind, hon, like a curtain or a sail. It's not a name for a child. I understand you want something unusual for your child, but you can do better than 'Billow'!

Not really. When picking a name, think of one that other kids won't tease them about. Also, ig you have a strange last name, that they will have to spell for everyone, give them an easy first name!

Yuck horrible name. Please don't consider that name. If you do, I will feel sorry for your son. Where in the heck did you come up with that? I have heard of made up names, but that is just horrific.

It's a great name if you want your child to get made fun of all his life.
