A plot is the spine of your story. It runs through the story from one end to the other and holds it together. Branching off of the main plot can be subplots, backstories etc, But consider the plot to be the command central of your story. The basic elements of a plot are a conflict and a resolution. Pax - C

A premise containing the characters and setting of the story.
A central theme or idea which serves as the basis for the complications or conflicts at the heart of the city.
A high-point to the story.
A resolution of that surge in a storyline which leads to the end.
