I had a ultrasound yesterday and she said that I had a egg sack still in the placenta. I never heard of an egg sack at this age. It looks just like another head to me. Nothing is connecting to the egg sack from the embryo. I have terrible morning sickness and gaining weight like crazy. Does it sound like it could be twins to you? Please only serious questions only. Thanks a million 80)!!

You mean a yolk sac? It does kind of look like a head this early on, and it is connected to the baby. It's what nourishes the baby until the placenta takes over around 12 weeks.

The correct term is the yolk sac. It is what gives your baby nourishment until your placenta has formed.

"As the pregnancy advances, the next structure to become visible to ultrasound is the yolk sac. This is a round, sonolucent structure with a bright rim. The yolk sac first appears during the fifth week of pregnancy and grows to be no larger than 6 mm."

In fact, go to the above website, and scroll down to the second ultrasound image. The baby is to the left (with the "+" signs on either side of it), and the yolk sac is to the right of the baby. It is hard to confuse the yolk sac with the baby, as they look nothing alike. Scroll down to the third image, and you will see what a twin pregnancy looks like....Best wishes.....

Yes, you have an egg sac at 6 weeks. You will have seen a little round ball on the monitor.
Usually your baby has a heart beat that is detectable on the monitor of an ultrasound. I was six weeks and saw the sac but no heartbeat. couple of days later, I had a miscarriage.
I was home alone and felt some pressure. Went and sat on the toilet and the sac fell out into the toilet. I got it out. I couldn't see the baby inside of it. It's a thick red sac about the size of a silver dollar coin.
No it doesn't sound like twins.
Sounds like a normal baby and normal symptoms.

I'm not sure about 6 weeks but I was 8 weeks along when I had my first ultrasound and you could see the baby. He looked like a little alien in there but you could tell which side was his head and which wasn't. Along with the sac around the outside of him. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy, congrats on the babe and I wish you a safe and healthy delivery!!

If you are unsure ask for a hormone test and your doc should be able to tell if you are carrying more than one embryo. There is no placenta at this stage.
