Social Security is why I voted for him in the first place. He was the first candidate I've ever seen that had the balls to even talk about it.
I'm 41. I can remember when I was in 7th grade, my social studies teacher telling me I was going to get screwed. I'd spend all my life paying in, I won't collect because it will be broke. That's how long we've known there is a problem. Why should I give up 15% of my paycheck to fulfill a promise made to our seniors? All they did was pay into it just like I am. What's my promise? They promise I will get screwed. They tell me to make other plans, because I can't count on Social security, buy by the way, I still have to pay into it. This is unacceptable. I don't want to hear about how it solid until 2040, so we shouldn't mess with it. That's not good enough. Either fix it or get rid of it. Let me keep my paycheck and invest that money as I see fit. I thought this was a free country?

in case you understood the strikes he become attempting to make you will possibly comprehend it does not be total privatization of social safety, yet of area of the monies each individual has earned. below the present equipment with all of the changes that are being tried, there is not something that ensures there will be a dime left whilst many workers working at present prefer to retire. the present equipment become based on the subject-loose existence span of approximately 60 to sixty 5 years, at present a majority stay way previous that, with fewer and much less new workers paying into the fund. so which you have persons residing of SS for as much as twenty years longer than predicted whilst this methodology become set up. Do you not see a topic with this? much less paying in + extra going out (with the aid of longer lifespans) = depletion of money faster.

It's an economic fact that when the government lowers taxes, government revenue goes up. I know it seems like the opposite would happen, but it's simply not true.
People need to plan with their own money for disability, retirement and other common life issues. Lowering taxes would allow people to invest their own money as they see fit, as well as raising government revenue. I trust the public to manage their own money. I do not trust the government to take it from us and spend it wisely. That's something we all can agree on, no matter what side of the fence you're on, so why not lower taxes?

That's funny, he just raided the Social Security Trust Fund again! No wonder they are broke. They give it to the rich and never pay it back. Wish I could do that. It is illegal for every other entity in this country to do something like that!
He isn't going to fix squat. He should fix HIS war before he lays it on someone else to get the blame for, Like Clinton does Somalia, when it was Bush's father who put them in Somalia on December 10, after Clinton was elected, and didn't even bother to tell him!
Social Security is our money dust, or don't you notice it coming out of you paycheck every month!

I believe that we should respect our Commander in Chief but Mr. Bush is a bit shady for me. I wonder if he really ever consults with anyone else or does he just make this stuff up as he goes along. I question his competency at times!!!

Well what do you expect? He tried to pass the 2% law several years ago, and the Democrats shot it down. He's in a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. The Dems have pinched him in.

Greenspan said that SS is in fine shape. Medicare is the one that's in trouble. I can't understand why nobody even talks about Medicare.
