My boyfriend lives in a different state. He has family problems, and is pretty much living with his friend at the moment. He's fifteen, almost sixteen, and wants to move here (a different state) with me.

Would it be legally possible for him to buy an apartment here, by himself? At only fifteen/sixteen years old? And would it also be possible for him to get a loan at his age? (If his mother could possibly sign for it or something?)

It sounds really young, but he's been through a lot and is way more mature than most eighteen year olds. He's pretty much by himself. His dad's in jail, and his mom doesn't pay any attention to him, and she lives with her boyfriend, and might be going to jail also.

the final rule is that contracts made with the aid of minors are voidable on the minor's discretion. there is an exception, whether, for contracts for necessaries -- on an identical time as the minor might disaffirm the contract, he's accountable to pay the sensible cost of the amenities provided. Now, on an identical time as look after is between the needs of existence, an condominium isn't a "needed" as long as somebody like a discern is attainable to offer look after. yet right here, the mum and father are threatening to kick the toddler out, so perhaps the condominium may well be a needed. the nice and comfortable button is that no sensible landlord will sign a hire with a sixteen year previous toddler who has mom and father who've a place he ought to stay in, for worry he gets stiffed.

At the age of 16 he can legally drop out of school in most states (my state is one) but he will not be able to secure any type of loan even if his mother co-signs. He must be at least 18 years of age, employed, earning X amount of money, and other factors (credit history.) Additionally, you say buy an apartment? Again, he will not be able to enter into any kind of contract to make such a purchase because of his age even if he has his mom. That is horrible your boyfriend has such a shabby situation. Even if your folks let him move in with you they can get into legal trouble for harboring a minor. I hate to use this person as an example, but look at EMINEM. Low life mother who tried to kill him several times with poison, abused, etc.. etc... Look at him now. Your boyfriend needs to concentrate on doing something positive to get the hell out of his situation. Running to another state at the age of 15 is rarely if ever the answer.

Contracts with minors are Not enforceable ,
They don't care how young you look ,
They care about your legal age and . . .
They care about your job history & income .

Does he have a trust fund that generates about $3000 to $4000 a month ? If so ,
His trust fund manager could make arrangements for housing .

Or were you counting on rental / purchase to move forward on him being " way more mature " .

Mature counts for nothing , his bank account will have to do all the talking .

Only if he is legally emancipated. Otherwise, if his situation is reported to social services, and his mother is deemed unfit, he will be placed in foster care.
