I am thining about returning back to school to get my bachelors degree from University of Phoenix, but dont want to waste my money or my time, if I am not going to be able to get a job teaching, because of where I obtained my degree. I can go through the University of Houston Dowtown, but I have to actually be in class Mon-Thurs 6:00pm-9:00pm for about 2 years since I have 15 classes to take. With being a wife, a mother of a 10 month old and a full-time employee that sure does make my dream more difficult. Thanks for the advice!

Start by asking the University of Phoenix, what the recent graduates are doing. Call a few local principals, ask them if they have ever hired or if they currently have someone working at their school with an Education degree from University of Phoenix.

Yes, you can. It doesn't matter where you get your bachelors from as long as you can pass the certification tests and get all of your clearances (eg. Child abuse clearance, TB test, etc). Teachers can switch states by just passing the certification tests, rather than getting another degree. Plus, with the teacher shortage in Texas it should make things easier for you.

I don't know much about it, but I've heard a lot of negative things. They may be true or they may not be true. It's just worth it to be careful when paying for anything - especially an education.

If you need to take online classes, a better option would be looking for universities in your area that offer online classes or full degrees. Good luck.

I hope you can't. Go to a real college and get a degree that is worth something.
