Psychobilly is the only way to go with this one...if you even slightly like any punk or country it is a simple transition.
Try out these at first to ease you into it
Tiger Army
Horrorpops
The Creepshow
Then move on up to these
Rezurex
Batmobile
The Peacocks
Nekromantix
Zombie Ghost Train
Demanted Are Go
Once you start to fall in love get to the classics, where it all started...
The Cramps
The Meteors
Mad Sin
I also hate rap, and hip hop...I grew up on a diet of Hardcore and Punk...this Psycho stuff is great!
Also if you aren't firmiliar with ANY of these bands (not psychobilly at all...just some of my favs, I would say to check them out)
Alkaline Trio
Bouncing Souls
Social Distortion
Rancid
River City Rebels
Save Ferris
Good luck, and stay away from the radio, it is all CRAP!! MTV too, seriously get away from it!

Something new as in, recent, or just something you haven't heard? Because if you want recent, I'd go with:
The White Stripes
Muse - oh man, "Supermassive Black Hole" is awesome
Jet
The Raconteurs
The Strokes, or
The Darkness.
But if you're interested in bands that aren't new, but really good, check out Oingo Boingo. They're an 80s band led by Danny Elfman, who is now a famous composer for movies. They totally surprised me, and now I love them.

How about some classic Brazilian music, like Caetano Veloso or Gilberto Gil?

I would try the cruxshadows- deception, edge of the world, and resist are some their best songs. Also try mindless self indulgence, voltaire, and the bleeder project they all have a very unique sound to them.
