They took land from the Ottomans to give to the Israelis, It never "belonged" to the Palestinians. Like a great many of the post colonial breakups, It resulted in shifting populations. Plenty of Israelis came from other parts of the Empire and lost their lands in return. A raw deal all around, but one that is accepted by the UN.

Since the inception of the UN, most countries accept the borders of that time to end border battles. No more arguing over who used to have what, just accept the border. Which is why I have no problem with Israel existing.

Now, if you want to gripe, gripe about the territory that Israel has outright looted like the Golan Heights, West Bank and Gaza Strip. 40 years of occupation, and no political rights for the inhabitants, half of which have been born under Israeli rule. Apartheid isn't just for South Africa anymore.
During this occupation, the Israelis have illegally continued to drive residents off their land and establish settlements designed to sever Jerusalem and its environs. Since the beginning of the UN, the rule has been take the land and you have to take the people. Israel's plan is to drive off the people and keep the land. This isn't an outside opinion, taking the land is illegal under Israeli law, which is why they originally claimed such settlements were paramilitary bases.

One hint, whenever someone has to mention a book that is thousands of years old to come up with their claim that God gave it to them, they're wrong. Whichever their religion is today, either one has roughly the same genetic stock as the ancient residents.

The land has been occupied by various different ethnic groups at different times.

If it belongs to the Palestinians because they used to live there, then it also belongs to the Jews, because they used to live there. How can you say that one claim is better than the other? Either both claims are good, or both are worthless.

It is the same as the Argentinian argument that they ought to rule the Falkland Islands, because they used to; and the Spanish argument that they ought to rule Gibraltar, because they used to. If we go back far enough, Italy can argue that it should rule most of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East, because that is how it was in the time of the Roman Empire. All of these arguments are equally nonsense, and so is any argument that the Palestinian occupation of the area now called Israel is somehow superior to any other occupation of it by anybody else at any other time.

The jews justify their theft of the land of the Palestinians by saying that their god promised it to them centuries ago and they once had a state before the birth of Christ.
But if you read the holy books of the jews and the christians you will find out that even in those days they had to massacre and scatter the people who already lived there.
Their claim is nonsense and has only succeded with the complicity of the USA.
Can you imagine if all people behaved like this and tried to grab territories their ancestors had lived in centuries ago.
There will never be peace until the Palestinians have regained their land

well the Jews have ties to the area and Jerusalem dating back some 4000 years, and some of the holiest sites to Judiasm are there.

Many Jews lived in Palestine already. The UN created a National Home for the Jews with Israel in 1947 and Jews and Arabs have been fighting over it ever since. I think they deserve a homeland.

It's anti-"Semitic," btw. I think anti-semetic is a medicine to prevent vomiting.

Be careful taking sides, though. There are no sane people in that part of the World. I guess it's hard to have both oars in the the water when you live in the desert, and the Palestinians have committed a lot of atrocities outside of Canaan. Canaan--remember the name--because there will be no peace in that land until the Jews acknowledge and atone for that ancient genocide. Three millenia later, the blood of innocents still cries out for Justice.

The Palestinians are pretty unpopular on their own account. They've tried to overthrow the governments of every Middle East nation who has taken them in as refugees.

The Jews really aren't a problem anywhere else. In fact throughout the Ages, they've been some of Civilation's strongest and most consistent allies.

Islam is another story. After 1200 years, it's still a Religion in search of it's soul, as is Christianity. But, unlike Christianity, its war with itself is no longer contained by Secular Authorites. They intend to fight that war all over the World and are emboldening a large segment of Christianity in its own attempts to overthrow Democracies and fight its own Holy Wars.

I don't think that Civilized people have any better option that to quarantine the Middle East and let the plague of Religious Violence burn itself out.

The money that the US and Europe are spending in Iraq would be better spent on alternative energy sources so that we can write the place off.

This area of the world belongs to the Jews because of the Abrahamic covenant between God and Abraham. The Lord gave a blessing to Abraham in Gen. 12:1-3: " Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Anti-semetic is a term coined by an editor-reporter in Germany in 1879 in which he described Jews as Semites. Unlike in the past when Jews were persecuted for their religious beliefs now they were classified along racial lines. Religious beliefs could be changed through conversion but how do you change your race. Oddly enough, Moslems were not classified in the same manner in spite that they are share a lineage through Abraham too. Ishmael is considered by Moslems to be the legitimate heir of Abraham and Isaac to be illegitimate. This is false according to the Old Testament which both Christians and Jews agree to be the word of God.

The Lord God Jehovah made an everlasting covenant with Abram (later changed to Abraham) that is recorded in Gen. 15:18' "18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:" This was to be Israel, homeland of the Jews.

The area was later called Palestinia by the Romans and its original inhabitants were the Philistines who were conquered by the Israelites. Before then it was Israel.

The Bible predates the Quran and in it we read the admonition of the apostle Paul in Galations 1:8,9, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed."

We read in Deut. 4:2 the following,"Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. " Therefore when Mohamed wrote the Quran 600 years after Christ's death, burial, and Resurrection he altered and changed the word of Almighty God. Mohamed was trying to unite the desert tribes and created Allah, the moon god of the pagans to the station of and a substitution for the one true God. Islam teaches violence against the infidels (us) while Jesus taught His followers to treat others with dignity, respect, and to love them. He was a man of peace. As such, judgment is of God and Him alone. Not by a group of religious fanatics whose sole goal in life is to force the conversion of others by force.
