I teach new parents about feeding their infants as part of my job. It's suggested to wait 6 months before introducing rice cereal or baby foods, because the only thing the baby needs for 6 months is breastmilk and/or formula for the fat content. Introducing solids to early can lead to poor weight gain, allergies, digestive issues, etc...Waiting 6 months is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, WIC, and most all other organizations.

Sorry, but I would listen to my baby's doctor before someone that has no medical degree, even if they are a "Specialist". My son's doctor starts her patients out on rice cereal at 4 months, and then 6 months for fruits and veggies. The only time she waits until 6 months is if the baby was a preemie, like my son. He was almost 3 months early.

the baby should be able to have cereal and friut for breakfast, veggies and fruit for lunch, and a dinner along with 3 or 4 bottles a day. start off on carrots and sweet potato for veggies the orange ones first. one type at a time for about a week so you can watch for allergies. one new food a week too. dont give berries either.
i strted my daughter on cereal at 5 weeks fruits at 8 then pretty much all others at 2 1/2 - 3 months she had teeth and was crawling at the end of 4 so she was ready for alot.

I don't think there's a "right" way to do this. It sounds like he likes the food, so you're on the right track! Babies will always like the sweet foods over the savory foods. but introduce one new food at a time - leave about 3 days in between new foods.
Now that you have 2 feedings of food, just try food at another feeding and soon he'll eat more food than drink milk. It takes time, so don't rush things. 4 months is still young and milk is very important.
I started with sweet potatoes first and it took a few tries before my baby liked them. My advice is to keep trying new things and before long they'll like everything!

When I had my first 3 children you started them on solids at 4mths by the time I had my 4th child solids didn't get started till 6mths of age. I can safely say that my 1st 3 children started solids fine with the rice cereal then vegies and fruit. My 4th child started out the same way but at 6mths of age and is intolerant to Wheat & Gluten. So if a child is going to be allergic to something it doesn't matter what age you start them at but stay away from the major allergens like egg, nuts, etc... till your meant to introduce them.

Try only one fruit for a while...that way if they have a reaction to it you know what he ate...so try one fruit, once a day, for a week. Then the next week introduce another fruit or veggie if he does o.k. with the fruit. Good Luck

that sounds good just keep doing it the way you are then after all fruits are introduced go on to veggies. but give at least three days in between each new food to check for allergies.

I started both of my children on infant cereal at 2 months of age due to acid reflux. The doctor recommended that to me. If your child isn't having any medical problems, I would try to delay giving him solids until he is closer to 6 months of age. The AAP recommends that you do not give babies under 6 months of age any solids. Giving infants under 6 months of age solids can increase their chances of having food allergies.

Fruits are easier to digest, but starting with them can make it harder to introduce veggies. You could try alternating between them.
