If two three or four year old boys were given certain props such as stuffed animals, a toy stethescope and a toy thermometer and told to pretend that they were veterinarians. What do u think they would do during this pretend play?

They would probably pretend to take its temperature, act like they were listening to its heart, look in its mouth and tears. They may come up with a story as to why it had a "broken leg" and needed bandages, etc.
If you are trying to find a difference between boys and girls at this age you wont find a whole lot yet...well at least when it comes to being a vet. They are just discovering gender roles and what is encouraged by society (parents, friends, family, TV, etc.)

They would play with the stuffed animals, stethescope and thermometer. They most likely would not try to stick the thermometer up the stuffed animals behind because childrens minds do not work like that. If they have ever had this done before they most likely have blocked it out since I am sure they did not enjoy it.
I am curious to know why you asked this question. Mind telling us??

Some 3 and 4 year olds may not know "veterinarian" I'd say vets or animal doctor.

They would pretend the toys were sick and give them checkups, including listening to their chests and oral temperature taking.
They would probably also pretend to operate on them, or ask you for some bandages or something to make it more interesting.

It depends on what kind of experience they have or what they have seen, heard or read. If they have visited a vet than they know what to do because children learn through observation.
