for best player & most valuable player? Why or why not?

I don't think so, since it would the value of either award would be deflated. By definition, the MVP should be the best player.

Sure. I've advocated it for years. Pitchers could win the MVP, so might an older, cagey player who creates the chemistry to win, or the guy with the big numbers. Why not give the big numbers guy the Best Player Award, and THEN look at MVP.
