Try the Avondale guest house http://www.avondale.ie/ we stayed there in march and it is a reasoably priced place to stay and food is good. There is also the option of a hostel. Try this site http://www.hostelworl.com/

But don't expect anything to be cheap in Dublin. Recently I was paying 600euro per month for one room in a 3 bedroom house 2 miles from the centre.

You're not going to find anything in the city centre, not even in a dive. Can the school help you find a room in a family home? That might work out cheaper.
