Cheap Vegas vacations?

Question

Yeah, so my friend said that a guy at his work just came back and was telling all about this trip he and his wife took to Vegas and it was like 40 bucks a day -- and included everything, room, food, etc.,etc.

The problem is that he supposedly "couldn't remember" where he found this deal. So my friend is all mad cuz we can't figure out where to look and I have looked all over the internet and can't find anywhere with that good of a deal.

Does anyone know SPECIFICALLY of a place where to look which would have these really, really cheap deals?

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

"It was like 40 bucks a day" >You could do that fairly easy "if" that was $40 per day each.

If that was $40 total for both then that would be considerable tougher. You would have to find a hotel for $20 or less a night, then eat inexpensive meals. >I stayed at the Orleans in 2004 for 10 nights, total cost $163.50 including tax. In 2005 the same deal was $20 per night last year it was $25(I'm beginning to see a patern here :))

On the same trip in 2004 I found a 2 star hotel/casino for $9 and that was for 2 nights($4.50 per) - No, none of those rates are from marketing or comp offers. All were found over the internet, and anyone could have booked them.

I do have the Gold Coast(10) & El Cortez(2) booked for 12 nights in December, total cost $254 - I am also taking advantage of 7 comp nights from 2 other hotels >I don't think I will be doing anymore 31 comp night trips like 6/4 - 7/5 of this year<

What I do is begin searching as far in advance as possible - up to 1 year - Because you never know when a special will pop up - For a December trip, it could be in January like it was this year for the Gold Coast - Or in June like it was for the $15 per night rate at the Orleans in 2004 -

It's a good idea to know what dates "generally" have the best deals > For the rest of this year the best rates are from November 18th until December 28th.

If you want to search next year, try Memorial Day for 4 nights or the same for Labor Day.

You could always check the travel section of the LA Times, your library should have a copy. There are often special offers in the LA Times that are not found anywhere else.

There is no ONE magic place to check, that would be too easy. Special deals can come from many sources. Sam's Town offered a special all summer long(5/28 - 9/27), $26.99 you just had to be on their e-mail list.

And of course it never hurts to ask, in a public forum if someone knows of a special. You either need to be more specific with your dates >I need 12/16 for 4 nights , I'm interested in these amenities. Or, I'm flexible does anyone know of a great deal.

I use the Las Vegas Advisor forums, they have over 30,000 paid members - Between the staff of the Advisor & the members, very little happens in LV that I can't find out about.

We go to LV 2-3 times a year for 2 weeks or more at a time and have for over 20 years. And, we go "on the cheap". This year (6/4 - 7/5) & (12/13/07 - 1/1/08)>so far, I have a hard time saying no to a super deal :))

South Point is probably the most luxurious room you'll get for practically nothing, but it is four miles from the strip. The shuttle bus gets old awfully quickly. - A nice place for a couple is Shara Casino. This casino is over 50 years old and was once one of the most famous hotels on the strip. It will feel like you are have been to Vegas not to some suburb. It is located just outside the city limits. You can catch the Deuce bus or the monorail to go to the rest of the strip. Buffets are cheap, and they are quick to comp you food if you gamble. - Terribles Casino is a low rent casino (ask for the new tower) that is within walking distance of the Hard Rock Casino. It has a nice pool. It's about a mile from the strip.

I guess if you wanted to stop in a really nasty area and only eat McDonalds you might be able to do it, but not if you want to stay anywhere decent. I honestly don;t believe this person. If you want to stay on the strip even during the week you are looking at about $100 a night just for hotel. Weekends much more. Even off the strip you are looking at that $40 a night for something nasty.

To be realistic we spend at least $200 a day when we go. Probably more. We stay at the Mirage and usually have cheap breakfast and lunch and a buffet dinner. Nothing fancy.

There is a chance that he got a deal like that if he booked something through one of the time share resorts and he had to sit though a sales presentation. I have seen a few deals like that in the past but always involved the time shares.

If he booked anything he has paper work. If he is on the level he should be able to provide something off the paper work.

I have nothing to do between fridays to sundays, and I would enjoy showing someone around.

So if you are visting for a weekend, contact me and I'll make room. It's small and isn't fancy, but everything within walking distance or a bus ride away where I live. That includes downtown, the strip, and the airport.

i live right next to vegas, and i honestly don't know. try living with a friend that lives there. sunset station isn't that expensive. spending 40 bucks a day is like rachel ray.. on food, at least is plausible, but you wouldn't get very good service with so little money.
