One of our traditions, every year we put up blue lights (for the blue light project) to show support to police officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice and support to those who continue to walk their "life on the beat".

One year we tried to start a new tradition that never really made it into our list of traditions...

It was a gift to God tradition. You take a paper and write down one thing (or more if you want) that you will change in your life or give up for God. Then you wrap it like a present and stick it under the tree until Christmas day. No one else has to read or know what you wrote.

That only lasted one year. My father refused to participate.

But the blue lights have carried on as a tradition every year for the past few years now.

We always have a really small Christmas. We eat out at a restaurant (a really nice hotel restaurant with a huge Christmas buffet), which I love doing and look forward to it every year. But usually it's me, my parents, brother and our aunt and uncle. This year, my boyfriend will be there, as well as my brother's fiance, my cousin and his fiance, and also my parents' two best friends. So it'll be quite a crowd for us!

My brother's getting married a couple of days after Christmas so we'll be doing lots of planning for that. Christmas is usually pretty low-key around our home anyway.

I plan on putting up 25,000 lights that are syncronized to music on the computer. By using a program to tell the lights when to turn on and off, they will present a dazzling display that will amaze the crowds.

I do this so that parents and children can enjoy something that doesn't cost anything.

I have a radio transmitter that will broadcast the music on a FM frequency, so that you don't even have to get out of your car and get cold to enjoy the lights.

I live on a cul-de-sac, and last year, we had hundreds of cars just park there while our display was showing.

I will start putting up lights in October, after I trim the hedges, and will hopefully be able to turn the lights on December 1.

We run from 6:00 - 10:00 every night, weather permitting, through December 30th.

I then take the lights down (usually the last one down is packed by Jan 15th) and will start planning my 2008 display after hitting up the light sales that run in January.

If you haven't considered taking control of your computerized lights, you should. It is not as hard as it looks. It only takes a little bit of time to get you through your display.

Spending time with my daughter who I almost lost due to having Leukemia and went through a double stem cell transplant (bone marrow). She almost died 4 times due to MANY complications. This year will be a very special time knowing she will be o.k. from Gods MANY miracles he gave her! Christmas isn't always about receiving presents, it's also about your family. Love the ones you have today, because nobody is EVER promised tomorrow.

I haven't gotten to Halloween yet, much less Christmas. I like to live each season and holiday before working toward the next.
