I've cut into an avacado...you know...one of those cheap treats.
Will it still continue to ripen if I cover it in plastic wrap? Or is it too bad so sad?:( Thank You

Leave the seed in, brush it lightly with lemon juice to keep it from turning black, put the whole avacado back together if you can and leave it for a couple of days in the refrigerator. It should ripen up fairly nicely. If it does turn black, you're perfectly safe just skimming the black part off and eating the rest.

You probably already know this, but a gentle squeeze should tell you if it's ripe or not. A ripe fruit will yield and feel soft.

Place it in saran wrap around the cut, but leave what you can exposed...(seal off the cut, seed in), place in brown paper bag and see if it will ripen quickly..the worst is that it will rot...but it you can seal the cut, it may ripen quickly in a bag. do not refrigerate, as it will never ripen. IF it is not completely green, mash it up, add garlic and salt, with onion and chopped jalopinas, great dip mix.

Spritz it with lime or lemon juice, cover it with plastic & set it in the kitchen window in the sun for about an hour, then put it back in the fridge. Leave the seed intact.
It should be ready to use the next day.
Why did you cut it, didn't you know it's supposed to be a little soft before you slice into it. Hmmmmm.

I think you may be better off dumping it if it is too green. Please feel the avocados for softness before you buy them, if you intend to use them immediately. If you purchase the green ones, do this:

Best thing to do is place avocados in a paper bag if they do not feel soft. They will ripen fast that way.

I love avocados too. They are good for you and are considered the good kind of fat. Monounsaturated fat, also found in peanut oil and olives and most nuts. I cut that out of the paper to place on my fridge to remind myself it was okay to eat them.
