Pros: Cheaper. Depending on the school, may be a great education. Usually a more diverse student body.

Cons: Depending on the school, may not be a great education. Overcrowded, making it hard to get into some classes (private schools can stay the same size while public schools usually have to grow to accommodate the growing population). Subject to political forces, so if your governor wants to slash money from the budget it could be at your school's expense.

Convenience is a big factor for a city college. Makes a world of difference for someone who is working but wants to advance academically. City colleges usually are geared towards evening courses to accomodate the demand, while larger university campuses are more likely to be day-only programs (unless they're in the city itself).
