Start off small. Try opening an account that you don't have easy access to and start putting just a couple of dollars a week into that account. I have an online account that I use that I have to wait three days to get the money when I make a withdrawal - this gives me time to think about the purchase I want to make and usually in three days I've forgotten all about what it was that I wanted. I also stopped shopping so much - if I'm not around stuff to buy I don't want to buy it.

Savings Interactive has a great electronic book with really perfect strategies to save money, just for people who have had problems saving money in the past. I bought it and couldn't believe how much it helped me.

All you have to do is to improve your skills in money management. For instance, you have to know how to control your self. If you can't manage and control yourself, believe me your life will be hard & you'll face so many problems.
One way is to prioritize things & just buy the most important things which you need as a basic living requirements.
