Does anyone know how often women go into early labor versus late labor? Early as in 36-39 weeks and late as in 42 weeks? My son was a week late when I had him 10 years ago. But I am a little over 36 weeks now and feel like I could have this one sooner. Just wondering about everyone else's experiences. :) Thanks in advance.

Every women and every pregnancy is different. I wish we could know when we were going to go into labor but we can't. It's just a wait and see game. You might go a little earlier this time than last time. You can also look up ways to help move the baby down into the birthing canal, that might help get things moving (such as dilating) if that has not already started happening.

Good Luck and I hope the baby doesn't take too long making his/her appearance.

It's much more common to go into labor between 37-40 weeks, assuming your dute date was calculated correctly. Some babies are born late, past 42 weeks, but not the majority.

So you are much more likely to have a "term" baby rather than a "postterm" baby.

As a side note, prematurity is a lot more common than postterm delivery. The rate of premature (before 36 weeks) babies has been on the rise for some time due to lifestyle factors like drinking, smoking, drugs, multiple induced abortions, stress, abuse, etc. that are more common than they used to be in women.
