Well, you may want to get a second crib. I put my daughter in a toddler bed but in hindsight I second crib would be nice. Don't worry about the highchair right now, your baby won't be able to sit up for at least 6 months. You will want a double stroller, Don't get one that the handle flips forward and reverse because they don't steer well and are heavy and bulky. You will need carseats, sheets, towels, washcloths. Maybe you could keep a spare smaller diaper bag in the car so your normal one isn't so heavy. I used a backpack.
Good luck and at least they aren't 13 months apart.

I'm in the same situation as you. I'm due next week with my second baby and my daughter will 2 in December, so they will be 22 months apart. We debated on buying a new crib, considered just getting Sophie a toddler bed and putting the crib in the nursery. But, after talking to a lot of people, everyone said leave them in the crib until they try to climb out. It will be so much easier and well worth the cost of a second crib! Buy a used one to use temporarily if you don't want to pay for a new one. I would definitely buy a second crib if I were you. I didn't buy a second high chair or anything like that. I figured the new baby won't use it for several months and I will just buy Sophie a booster seat, or they can take turns using it. The only other thing I did go out and buy was a double stroller.

I would not get a second high chair, but just buy a booster seat for your son to graduate to. Basically, you will just need 2 car seats, and if you like to take walks, a double stroller.

You can definitely move your son out of his crib when the baby leaves the bassinet. By that point your son will be 2 years old and ready for a toddler bed, or a "big bed" with rails on the side.

Congratulations!

My nephews are the age difference that you have in countered. This is what I have found since I take care of them both during the day. Noah is 6 months and Jake is two. The high chair was a concern but we found it much easier to transfer Jake to a booster at the table and let Noah use the highchair. That arrangement did two things - one it freed the highchair for Noah- second- We made it a point to make it special event for Jake. He is in a "big boy" chair. We made sure we made the move to the table before the baby came so he would not see the change having to do with the baby. Other wise there is not much else you will need double of with the exception of a stroller. They will very likely not need the same things at the same time. So don't panic. My sister bought double of a lot of things she found out she did not need to. I would play it by ear. You will be able to see after the baby comes home what you will need just for him/her. What ever changes you find you need to make the best advice I can give is make them before you new baby comes home. I have two children of my own plus two nephews I am with on a daily basis. Congrats on your new baby. It is wonderful thing to have children. Enjoy them both...they grow so fast.
