I don't believe in corporal punishment by any means but a spanking never hurt any kid. For example, if a child of two continuously sticks his finger toward a power outlet would you "gently" smack his hand to protect him? Or would you just harshly tell him no? Which has more impact? To protect the child to teach him the lesson well, a gentle smack on the hand would have far more impact.

I believe it's OK to swat a kid on his or her butt (but nowhere else) if they need a little discipline. I have 4 kids and they are all honor students. If you ask them I'm sure they would tell you they live in a happy well adjusted home free of abuse. I love my kids dearly but I am not afraid to give 'em a swat on the hiney if they need one. But there are alternative methods of punishment too, swatting doesn't solve everything. It's called being there for your kids and acting as a positive role model.

To whip them? With a whip? Is that what you are actually asking?
I'd have to take a chance here and say, "no." I also don't think you should put them in chains or beat them with rubber hoses or handcuff them to radiators.
If you just mean corporal punishment, "no" again.

No. Discliplining your kids should not involve whips and spanking. I think that parents should just punish them with grounding or something, but whipping is too harsh :(

NOOOOOO!...That's just wrong and it's child abuse not discipline. Spare the whip instead of terrifying the kid.

Whip? No. Whoop? Spank? Tap? Yes. Sometimes, talking sternly or time outs just don't work.
I agree that there is a fine line between beating/abuse and corporal punishment, but I am a firm believer in corporal punishment as a form of discipline.
"Spare the rod, spoil the child" doesn't mean don't spank your child and spoil him/her rotten. It means, if you spare the rod, you will have a spoiled rotten child.

I don't believe in spanking children.
I think if you start to discipline your children early and correctly it's not necessary.
