Are you taking the square root of 18? It is different than 18 squared.

Anyhow. what are your perfect squares? 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36
Where does 18 fall? Between 16 and 25. 4 is the square root of 16, and 5 is the square root of 25. So, the square root of 18 would be greater than 4 and less than 5.

do u mean 18 squared or the square root of 18....as they are two different things.....18 squared means 18 multiplied by 18 so 18x18..........whereas the square root of 18 means, what number multiplied by itself will give the answer 18? so for example, we will call the number a...... a x a = 18...if u can work out a, then u will know if it is greater than 4, equal to 4 or less than 4.
Another way to find this answer, as there isn't an exact number multiplied by itself togive u 18 (it will be a decimal)....u can work it out by looking at the answer of 4 that u have....so..... 4 x 4 = 16 (this number is smaller than 18)
so...the square root of 16 is 4 (4 multiplied by itself will give the answer 16) seeing as though 4 squared is smaller than 18, lets try the next number, 5. 5x5=25 now this is much bigger than 18, therefore the answer to the sqaure root of 18 lies between 4 and 5.

therefore, by looking at what ive wrote, the square root of 18 will be greater than 4.
it cant be less than 4 as any number below 4 is going to be smaller than 16.
it cant be equal to 4 as 4x4=16 not 18
so therefore it must be greater than 4

i hope this helps and hasnt confused u too much

well 18 squared is 324 and the square root of 18 is between 4 and 5 so either way is greater than 4

i think you mean is the square root of 18 greater than 4?

if that's the question, think of it this way:
the square root of 16 is 4, and the square root of 25 is 5. since 18 is between 16 and 25, the square root of 18 is between 4 and 5. it's greater than 4.

Well, seeing as 18 is bigger than 4 even when not squared, 18^2 is bigger than 4.
