Yeah screw the Unions, I mean i want to work 14 hour days 7 days a week for pennies. What vacations?!? Are you insane, who needs time off of work.
I am willing to bet all those that are criticizing the Unions also think that Reagan single handily defeated communism. Remember anti-Union folks, the wall actually fell during Bush the 1st. And the Catholic Church and the Solidarity movement had nothing to do with it. I am also willing to bet all of you anti-Union "men" have soft delicate hands.
Real men and women work with their backs and the sweat off their brow. Maybe you Anti-Union folk should remember that most Japanese cars are made in America, and maybe its their trade policies that make it hard to import into Japan that makes their economy so sound. Oh and BTW Japan has National Health care too.
Union Solidarity, NO SCABS.

I don't know what the issues are except that it has to do with job security. If my livelyhood depended on the incompetent bozos that have managed to run our domestic transportaion manufacturering into the I'd like a little reassurance as well. Let's be real...this so-called 'globilization' has done zip for the blue collar middle class and has whittled down the white collar middle class to the 'frayed collar' middle class. We need an import tax on most of the stuff made in the 3rd world to equalize pay differences. Then we could compete on quality......that's the ticket.

Not me. Union members - the only people on the planet who are less productive work for the government and most of them are in unions too! The only reason for a union is to protect those who lack the productivity and skills to make their work stand out, such that they are rewarded for their valuable contribution. People who are worth a damn don't need a pack of thugs to help them keep their jobs. In other words, you all suck at your jobs and would be fired one by one if you didn't threaten to stop the entire line by all walking out at once. You have your job only through the blackmail that is a union. Does it make you feel good to know you're so unemployable that you couldn't keep a job without your friends holding a gun to the employer's head? Incidentally, the white collar guys are up there in the air conditioned offices because they can do their job AND YOURS TOO when it comes right down to it. What, you think bolting Chevy's together is tough? Yes, it's so difficult that illiterate, unskilled Mexicans and Chinese are doing the same job you are and producing higher quality vehicles. Wake up. GM can't wait for you to strike so they can finally rid themselves of you.

It's the healthcare and retirement package that is killing the big 3, not just a CEO's salary. The benefits packages the UAW negotiated is strangling their golden goose and they can't compete against the Japanese, Koreans and Germans who don't have that burden to pay. So, strike. I'm buying a Toyota or Honda next anyway.

I do and quite frankly every American owes the Unions in this country something whether they realize it or not, health care, decent wages, the length of the work week ALL thanks to unions, I'm sick of people who want to kiss employers backsides out of gratitude for a job, THEY NEED US, if GM hadn't made promises they couldn't keep that's GM's fault, and really the only reason they're not competitive is because they don't innovate, that's not the line workers fault, and for those who moan about the jobs going overseas you're stupid that's your political leaders fault not the Unions, if we had real trade agreements that made sure workers overseas were paid decent and had human rights all those jobs wouldn't be leaving you fools so more power to the UAW one of the last bastions of workers rights

To the best of my knowledge, most union members do not have to pay their dues during times of strike, so, yes, I'm all for it.

I do. I live just outside of Detroit. Plenty of my relatives have worked for the Big Three. They have to fight for their right to earn a fair wage and benefit package. It is a hardship on the employees, they suffer during a strike. They are willing to make that sacrifice to stand up for what is fair. I stand with them. Solidarity all the way!
