there are 15 girls in the class altogether and eight boys.

If there are 23 people in the class altogether and there are seven more boys then girls, then you subtract 7 from 23
eg. 23 - 7=16

And then you divide 16 by 2 which will tell you how many boys and girls.
eg. 16 / 2 = 8

So there are 8 boys and 15 girls (seven more girls then boys).

These questions can get sooooo confusing hey? You just need to work through them bit by bit

Goodluck!!

There are 15 girlzz in the class.

23 - 7 = 16
16 / 2 = 8
8 + 7 = 15

(x - 7) / 2 + 7 = y

x = total class memberzz

y = total girlzz in class

So, first thing to do is pick one to be the
variable either boys or girls
and we know
boys+girls=students
is the equation we need.
students=23
if x=boys
then girls=x+7
because there are 7 more
(more means addition)
substitute the values into
the equation
and
boys+girls=students
becomes
x + (x +7)= 23
x+x+7=23 (subtract 7 from each side)
x+x=16
2x=16 (divide both sides by two)
boys=16/2=x
now go back
girls=x+7=
if you chose
girls=x, then
boys=x-7
do the same process
you should get the same answers

let x=boys
so then x+7 =girls

you know you have 23 total so...

x +x+7=23
Subtract 7 on each side
x+x+7-7=23-7
Simplify
2x=16
divide each side by 2
x=8
so there are 8 boys
now remember x+7 was girls
8+7=15 girls

8 (boys) +15(girls) = 23 students

if the number of girls = g and the number of boys = b

g = b + 7

and

g + b = 23

so b + 7 + b = 2b + 7 = 23

2b = 16
b = 8
g = 15

what you do is like this:
x is the girls
y is the boys
x+y=23
x+7 is y
so you insert that: x+x+7
you now have 2x+7=23
subtract the 7 and you get 16.
Divide by 2 and you get x=8.
then you put 8 into x and you get y is 15.

Let x equal the number of boys and (x+7) equal the number of girls........ x+(x+7)=23
You can handle it from here.
