I'm not seeing it in my fiancé, but I saw it in past relationships, and I'm wondering if there's a connection.
"There's three rings involved in marriage. The engagement ring, the wedding ring, and the suffer-ring." Calling the wife a "ball and chain" or telling a groom on the way to the church, "It's not too late to back out." Or, like I saw one time on TV as a practical joke, writing "help me" on the bottom of the groom's shoes so that it showed when he knelt at the altar. It was supposed to be funny, but it seems like somebody is against marriage here. I think when a man consistently makes these jokes and/or finds them funny, it means deep down he fears commitment or doesn't want to be married. Am I right?
By the way, I did ask this question in Polls and Surveys but I didn't get answers.

Paul A, you prove my point. Men hate marriage. They use "humor" to express the fact. Now I want to know why.

An excess of anything is a bad sign. I can laugh at a good "marriage" joke every once in a while, but I wouldn't want to hear one every day. It's all good in moderation.

I make divorce jokes all the time. I come from a family in which not one marriage has ever worked out. Seriously, not one. At our wedding, my family started a pool as to when we would get divorced. I have 5 years, but they say it doesn't count because I can affect the results.
I make a lot of "when we get divorced jokes..." My husband isn't too fond of them, but we are still happily married. It's been 4 years, so i only have 1 more year to go till I get the $750:)
It's all in good fun. You either laugh, or you cry.

One of the GREATEST traits in the world is a sense of humor. If we can't laugh at ourselves, life isn't as much fun.
Having said that...
Marriage -- It isn't just a word. It's a sentence.
A father and his son were walking down a sidewalk. The son looked up at his father and said, "Dad, how much does it cost to get married?" The father looked down at his son and said, "Son, I don't know. I'm still paying."

If these jokes are a consistent problem from one guy, then probably. People have a tendency to joke about things that worry them or make them nervous.

no, i don't think your right. i believe the "humor" of it is to show the weight of marriage. it's not a "shoot from the hip" decision. this life long commitment has advantages and disadvantages, the humor is there to show that a lot of people go through it. just my opinion. is it bad taste to do it in front of your spouse? absolutely.

On their honeymoon night, the burly groom took off his pants and asked his bride to put them on. The waist alone was twice her body. She said, "I can't wear your pants." "That's right !" intoned the groom, "And don't you forget it. I'm the one who wears the pants in the family." The bride took off her panties and asked her husband to try them on. "No way. I can't get into your panties." he said. "That's right. And that's the way it'll be until you change your attitude." she said and smiled On the eve of the couple's tenth wedding anniversary, the still slim wife was bragging about her figure. "You know honey," she said, "I can still get into the skirts I had before we were married." "Yeah ?" the husband replied as he turned his attention back to the ball game on TV. "I wish to hell I could." A guy walks into a bar and orders a double shot of bourbon. He downs it then reaches into his pocket and pulls out a picture. He stares at the picture for a moment then puts it away and orders another double. After downing that drink, he proceeds to pull out the picture and examine it before putting it away and ordering another double. This goes on for about 4 rounds of drinks before the bartender asks him what's going on. "Well..." the guy says, "This is a picture of my wife. When she starts to look good, I'm going home." The bored husband was watching TV with his wife and noticed something different. "Honey, he asked, "why are you wearing your wedding ring on the wrong finger ? She sighed and said, "Because I married the wrong man !"

We sometimes make jokes about serious subjects when they make us uncomfortable, so yes, that might be a bad sign.
