There is a difference although people often mix the two of them up.

A ghost is a spirit person who was once living. They can manifest for a number of reasons: they can be family, someone who feels affinity for you or someone in your family, they can have a connection to your house. They also can simply decide that a certain person is worth the effort.

A demon is something that was never mortal. It usually is malevolant, although some demons are more chaos personified.

Purity, I understand that is the position you have been told to believe but you've got fuzzy reasoning. If all ghosts are demons, and the holy spirit is a ghost, well doesn't that make the holy ghost a demon?

Food for thought!

Well I agree with what alot of everyone elses answers I have an opinion on that too.

Ghosts are a common misconception, Ghosts in most beliefs were said to be evil spirits but that is exactly what they are Spirits. I don't mean to say they are all evil but a spirit is the apparition of a mortal being that has since passed this Realm of being.

Demons on the other hand are a Christian belief and said to be the workers of Satancreated and forged by the demonic hand of Satan himself, meaning that Demons are not truly Spirits but live in a half mortal, half spiritual realm of being. Limbo if you would like to call it that.

So there are many differences between the two although some hold common similarities some Demons are said to have gone astray from the workings of Satan and have become Good, also with Spirits usually a Spirit is depictended of the life they held on this Realm, so basically if a being was Good here in life they are usually Good as a spirit or vice versa.

Ghosts are without and demons within your self. Demons seduce and lure away and ghosts just influence you as a stranger might. Demons run deep into your mind and ghosts may be part of human imagination, not more.

Ghosts are categorised as non physical entities that once existed in human form, but now inhabit a place that was once familiar to them.

They are often reported to repeat actions taken, at a stressful time during their life, or to show displeasure at a perceived invasion of their place of habituation.

These actions, called hauntings, are rarely malevolent, and are yet to be unequivocally proven.

Demons generally have an historic place in the ancient folklore of all societies. They are one rationale, for the bad luck, that befell a peer group, bereft of a better explanation.

If the crops failed it was demons, if a villager went missing, demons.

Demons are also a handy warning off device, elders concerned about unhelpful practises, would warn about incurring the wrath of a particular demon.

Described mostly as non-human in form, demons are almost always imbued with malevolent characteristics.

Ghosts used to be people but now they are dead.

Demons never were human but an entity that was created by some higher power.

Ghost tend to dwell on their past lives and demons are focused on the present.

So you see, Ghost are living on spiritual welfare and demons are cashing in their 401k portfolio's.

Some ghosts are dead folk come back to visit. Some are kind of like recordings impressed onto a place for some reason, like a pot recording the sound of the potters voice as it is made. This type have no awareness, and just playback at odd moments.

Demons are nasty entities that have never lived. Lord only know what motivates them.
