Washington Post--
Clearly, this "lawsuit" is a forgery -- and a pretty crude one at that.

No man in Rather's position would admit that he could be made to apologize for a story he believed was true. A straight-shooting newsman like Dan Rather would have resigned rather than obey an order to lie to the public.

No one in his right mind would keep insisting that those phony documents are real and that the Bush National Guard story is true.

Even funnier, and more embarrassing to CBS and Rather, is that CBS will need to admit they and Rather knew the story was a lie and a sham, or they will need to pay him the $70 Million.

The story has never been proven to be a lie, even by the most partisan and biased sources. What got Rather in trouble was going with a story that couldn't be verified. That's all! That's the sum total of his guilt.
Now, every right winger under the sun is claiming that the story Rather reported was untrue. That has never been been verified, never been proved. So the question becomes, "Aren't all of you who are criticizing Rather doing EXACTLY what he lost his job over (furthering an unverified story)?

THOSE documents may have been forged, possibly even planted by the GOP. There is plenty of other proof that Bush failed to show up for duty during his last year in the National Guard.
