Has anyone ever used a flexiboot (The boots that you can slide over a cone onto the axle without dismantling the CV joint) on their CV joints? Are they worse or as good as the fitted CV boot?

If the boot is torn, the bearings inside are contaminated.
Replace the whole thing.

The boot will just seal the dirt and crap inside.

They work just fine but I still prefer the closed ones---- the other comment about the joint being dirty and crudded up is true....best to clean out the joint with brake cleaner real well and inspect it before buying the boot...if the joint was making noise or is pitted, worn or you find lots of debris in there, replace the whole joint or axle assembly.

I would answer but it would likely just be a list and I know how you hate that!

But split boots are not good do not last and with the cost of the rebuilds getting lower all the time just put in the entire axle.
