Been in your shoes myself , Dear. It is NO fun at all.
There's an old song, "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one your with." Easier said than done.
Only time lessens the intensity of your feelings. Give yourself that time. But don't drown yourself in it for years to come. I did, and was miserable.
Sometimes we have to let go of the things we can't have, the dreams of might-have-beens.
I wish you the best on your journey. If you need a friend, message me.

I have been there. Although I am not a Buddhist, I found reading books on Buddhism helpful. The basic philosophy is that wanting causes suffering. Techniques like mindfulness can help you monitor your thinking and help you to refocus. So do a little browsing at the library.

Definitely invest in yourself. Get involved with various activities that will help you seek inner peace and a greater sense of self. Try Yoga, do a ropes course with some girlfriends, or speak to a therapist. You are likely to get over him if you keep talking about it with someone that can give you an objective opinion. Most of all, learn that YOU ARE PERFECT FOR YOU! Kitties also help ;)

If you really cannot have him then I sympathise. It seems to me that you have to move on (easy to say, hard to do). There will be someone else. He may seem like second best, but he will be the one. I am a practising Christian, so I believe in the power of prayer, and would recommend it. Do not spend your life hankering after this man. It will mess you up. Hope this helps. God bless you

If you believe that nobody is perfect and we can love a lot of people in our lives: Find Another
If you think that you will love him for ever although you cannot be together find the answer in yourself. Are you ready to deny all the other men? If you can do it things are serious and try again with him

there is not something greater pathetic than somebody who " needs " a god to tell him acceptable from incorrect . This you have from deep interior you not from a imaginary sky fairy . Morals are survival values organic and easy . in case you commence a murderous rampage eating your victims you will not final long . in case you reside a stable existence assisting human beings alongside the way once you like help human beings would be there for you .

Ah, I am sorry :/
what is the reason in which you cannot have him?
I am a strong believer in fate, but it only takes you so far. If you are meant to be, then you will be together. Open your eyes, but close your heart. Put some flowers in a vase and save them.
If I could know the reason, I could help you more.
Take care,

Take the extra time to "know thyself"... and love thyself. Don't look at it as a loss, but as an opportunity. To be more specific, some Yoga or mediation or whatever appeals to you.
Be a gift to yourself.

When that happened to me, I chanted my mantra for one hour a day for two week and suddenly realized that I had made the decision to be unhappy about this. All the other 600,000,000 guys my age didn't give a damn about her. So I decided to be one of them. Click!
