As Arkansans, are you a little ashamed of how this situation came about?

I am a fellow Arkansas so do not be offended. I am just curious. Please share your opinions.

I have no links to post. This was about the horrible mess that occurred in 1956 when the first Africa-Americans were allowed to joint the "all white school system" and Little Rock is making a big 50 years ago ordeal about it. Hope this helps. I didn't live here then but it was all over the national news at the time.

I cannot understand why they are bringing this whole thing back after 50 years of trying to create a better place. Just brings back bad memories for some.

In my opinion, things seem more violent than they did 50 years ago. And they call that progress!

I'm not an Arkansan, but, you have to put it in context. Tensions were high and someone took a stand. it was the irresistible force meeting the immovable object. Remember the Titans is about the same. It was going to come to a head somewhere and it just happened to be Arkansas.

My father became right into a member of the nationwide safeguard, and from what I understand his unit became into federalized. Why would you be ashamed? It's not like you can change it. That's just the way things were and the way they happened. All you can do is learn from it and hope you can make a little difference someday.
