It's a good thing I'm not vain because a wonderful, kind, intelligent, etc,etc lady friend of mine has cancer and had this huge operation (ovaries).... She will be on chemotherapy until late in 2008. She lost all her hair and I decided she wasn't going to be alone in her ordeal. I shaved my head just like hers and went over to her house. We had lots of laughs and hugs. I like it like this!!!! It frees me from brushes, blow dryers and expensive shampoos. I don't have to fuss with it everyday to get it to look normal and I can take a shower at night and sleep on my little baldy head if I want to. My hair used to be a disaster in the morning if I showered at night and slept on it. She said to me, "I've lost my eyebrows and lashes, too." I said, "OH NOOOO! This is as far as I go." Anyway, we both agree....Life is good!!!

In the early 80s I was new to the area and made an appointment at the closest good looking shop. I paid $55 plus tip for maybe a 1/2 inch of hair left on my head and it was nearly purple!! I was embarrassed to go to work. Mine is naturally curly so as soon as it grew out an inch it started going in all kinds of different directions. It took about two months before I could get it colored and trimmed up into a better shape. Now I have been going to the same woman for twenty years. She gives the best haircuts ever. All of her clients agree.

You're lucky if it was that long ago. I've had so many bad cuts
in my time. Now I'm content with a local woman who has her
own shop. She's not a stylist, but more like a woman barber.
She cuts the way you generally want it tho. Well mostly. I've
been trying to get her to cut mine ala Lisa Minnelli. But the
bottom and top never quite make it. But what do you want for
$5.00?
Well anyway, I've had the flu now for several weeks, and I've
already gotten the scissors out and whacked on top and a
trim on the sides. But I cannot do the bottom which should be
a bit jagged. I cut on the top too, and tried to go by rows.
Well it stands straight up now, and on the top of the sides,
it flares out with a cow lick on each side. Sounds lovely,
doesn't it LOL? My hair has really thinned out and she does
a pretty good job of making it look a bit fuller. So I thought I
could do that too. Well, luckily, hair grows LOL. Still this isn't
the worst cut I've ever had. But the worst one I've ever given
to myself. It doesn't pay to cut hair, when you've got the woozies from the flu LOL. It's too hard to judge your reflection
in the mirror and zig, when you should zag!

The worst haircut I ever had, and I have had many, was after getting a permanent about 20 years ago. The perm was a nice one but then the hairdresser hacked away at it until all the curl she had just put in was gone. I looked really bad and cried a lot. I stopped payment on the check and took pictures of my hair in case there was a problem with stopping the check. The shop owner called me. I told her what happened and she wanted to see the result of what her employee did. She took one look at me and apologized and gave me back the check. I can sympathize with you 100%.

When I was working I used to pay over the top for a cut and blow dry, $100 plus tip but it was always the way I wanted it.
After retiring, I made some changes so went to a little neighborhood shop. Oh dear....I told her to just 'wave the scissors' across my bangs as I like them long. When she spun my chair around I got tears in my eyes as my bangs were an inch long. The rest of my hair? It was indescribable it was so horrible. I went and bought several caps of different colors to wear until it all grew out. Now it's " Super Cuts" always and they do a great job!

I know what hair style you are referring to.
I had that done to my hair about 10 years ago and I could have screamed after I saw the results.
I keep trying to tell my hairdresser to please stop taking so much hair from the back so I can get it where it doesn't go straight down. (I have short hair). Every time she cuts it, she gets off the length again. I am looking for a new hairdresser.
Just because I am 65, doesn't mean I want a hairstyle that looks 65! I told her that too.

Not exactly a bad haircut, but an incredible hair experience . I had long hair until my 30's...by this time I had two kids and no time for hair care, so decided that I wanted it cut short. I went to the hairdresser and said "cut it all off please - I'd like it short and easy-care". The girl said...honestly..."has your husband agreed to this ?" I said, flabergasted, "no, its my hair not his". But she flatly refused to cut it until I had "permission from my husband " !!
I went home, got a pair of scissors, and (remember Mia Farrow in Peyton Place ?) I had the best fun chopping all this hair off ! My head felt so light and airy after years of that heavy thick hair down my back. I loved it.
I went back to see the hairdresser, and told her that I'd done the job, and maybe she could just tidy it up for me. She was horrified... I just had a good laugh about it.

Oh my gosh. My best friend did that to me. This was back in the 60s and hairstyles then were not like today. She had a fight with her husband and was telling me about it. The whole time she was cutting my hair. She cut it so short, that I could not curl it with the smallest curler. I think she thought she was cutting her husbands hair because when she was done I looked just like a man with hair sticking up in all directions. It was horrible...

I had a good friend that was a high end hairdresser in Brentwood (OJ's town). I went over to his house one night for dinner and a haircut. He liked to sip vodka while cutting, before cutting and after cutting. My hair was permed and shoulder length. After he was through I looked like Liza Minnelli. I was so depresses that I gained 20 pounds!

HAHAHA. I have had something similar. I told the girl to cut NO MORE than 1 inch off, and she ended up cutting about 6 before I told her to stop and that I wanted her manager/someone else to FIX what she had started. She said that my hair was too wavy, so she couldn't get it straight. WHATEVER. I was so mad...and the cut was supposed to be like $50. I refused to pay, because my bra-strap length hair was up to my shoulders when I left...and my hair is pretty curly, so when I wear it short, it gets poofy and looks like crap!
