He is talking about the time-bomb waiting to kill the country. The huge debt both the government has taken on and how the public has generally done the same. There is a correction due and it is not far away. The likes of working class people are feeling the pinch and the rest are not far behind. He will call an election early ... as its not going to be too long after that the country will struggle.
Or maybe he will tell the people that the books balance, that the country will be fine and everyone will believe him ... either way, a "new direction" would have been reached.

Well, I've always thought that the Brit's were submissive to anything their various governments did to them! whether Tory or Labor. They pass legislation willy-nilly on the population, and they just except it lying down! Over taxed and under payed! They would be the only country that still operates under the 'class distinction' order while the upper class ride to their "clubs" in their Rolls Royce's and talk about stocks and shares, whilst the lower classes catch the bus and hope there job is still there! Have a good day.

In a word, No, until the politicos take heed of the vast majority of this nations views there will be no "new direction". Soon there will be no "national" voice, we will be so inundated with migrants heaping praise upon the Labour party that they will have carte blanche to do whatever! Gordon Brown will do whatever is necessary to keep himself and his party in power, once you have an address in this country you can vote..Were I an immigrant .. he would be my saviour....Wake up my fellow countrymen see how you are being conned,

,Yes this is indeed true due to the increasing amount of bulls@@t coming out of America Britain is now drifting towards the European continental shelf this was the cause of the earthquake felt in Manchester last month.
Scientists estimate that unless the present administration is changed, or forced to drink copious amounts of water while sand and cement is shoved up there backsides, London will soon be part of Bordeaux, while Ireland will once again be a suburb of Liverpool.
Now don't you agree this a much more believable scenario than yours.

I think he means a more socially aware society. And one that doesn't bow down to acceptable EU guidance.
Maybe mr brown is what this country has been waiting for, for over 30 years now. Time will tell.

I think he may have actually said "nude erection"...
...which would at least have the potential of some substance...
...unlike the meaningless soundbite garbage that made up most of the speech.
